This beautiful antique fob crafted in 12k gold & calchedony was sourced in Italy, made at the end of 1800. It features Goddess Athnena and the head of Medusa (the Gorgoneion)on her shield. It measures 2.1 inches.

The myth: Perseus beheaded Medusa and then offered her head to Athena. The Goddess affixed it to the center of her shield (or sometimes to her aegis, a magical breastplate).

The Power: The face still petrified anyone who looked at it, serving a sthe ultimate defensive weapon.
